Hannibal Research

Wood Brothers aimed to re-discover Hannibal and his Carthaginian civilisation from the saddles of their bicycles. They rode from Spain to North Africa, through some of the Mediterranean’s most picturesque landscapes, telling the story of Hannibal and his attempt to defeat Rome. The BBC filmed this journey and the resulting documentary, On Hannibal's Trail, is scheduled to go to air in July 2010.

About the authors

Danny, Ben and Sam Wood are three brothers who followed in the footsteps of three ancient Carthaginian brothers Hannibal, Hasdrubal and Mago. They cycled from Cartagena, Spain to Zama, Tunisia - the route that Hannibal and his army took over 2200 years ago. Along the way they filmed a documentary to be aired on the BBC in July 2010.
